Listen. You hear that? It's the sound of my day off leaking away. It's funny how I get so surprised when months fly by (It's November ladies!) but, as much as I appreciate my job, I spend my days wishing the hours away, longing to be home, then wishing the week would speed on so I could get to the weekend, then the weekend flies by all on it's own, and then an entire month of my life is gone, and I willed it to rush on. That being said, I am on a campaign to soak in every second. Sounds awfully cliche doesn't it? It's kind of sad how in this hurry-up society that it's more acceptable to run your life away and it's considered "cute" to try to slow down. Well, "cute" I shall be!
That being said, I am having a terrible time keeping the Christmas elf inside me from coming out prematurely. I was raised with a very healthy respect for Thanksgiving, and was drilled into the habit of keeping my beloved Christmas decorations, movies, and music packed away until the last Friday in November. But these days, everyone seems to want to throw Thanksgiving into the "Holiday Season" as if it's an extra meal for Christmas. I don't judge that. It's awfully tempting. Still, I'm doing my best to be patient - not to mention that Bama Man probably wouldn't let me get away with it.
I have some delicious plans for today that involve grocery shopping, nesting, a few "chores," blogging, Thanksgiving decorations, old movies, and drinking lots of coffee. The only blight on the day is that I'm running low on half and half. I'm actually wondering how immature it would be to run to Publix in my pajamas. Also, Walker and I will be taking a trip to the vet. The poor guy, is in need of some professional help. But I won't spill too much about it - I wouldn't want him to be embarrassed. As for the moment, I'm quite content with All About Eve, drop biscuits, and my laptop.
P.S. It's been over a year since my first post in this delightful place. Thanks for making it so much fun!

My First Christmas As A Mrs.
Since it was an absolute blast, I think it only far that I touch on my first Christmas as a Married Woman. I suppose I won't go into the details of festivities and such (We made rounds with the families, spent time by ourselves, and wrapped it all up with the new Sherlock movie, which was incredible by the way) but i do have one thing to point out.
There comes a time in every young lady's life when she looks herself up and down, taps herself on the shoulder, checks her pulse, and realizes....she's a woman. My moment came, quite appropriately, on my first married Christmas when I looked around and realized that, among the many other things, many of my gifts were kitchen appliances, aromatheraputic cleaning supplies, and gift cards to high-end grocery stores - because that's what I wanted!
Growing up, I have found my Momma ridiculous to buy gifts for. Partially because I have a hard time picking out gifts for anyone I care about that I feel are "good enough." but mostly, in her case, because she very often asks for "tools" of her trade...which happens to be a full time Homemaker. Something about buying Mom a good set of pots and pans never seemed adequate to me. This however, was before I understood the relationship of a woman and her household, a woman and her kitchen. I suddenly, and quite unexpectedly do now. Which also begs the question, is that transformation into womanhood actually found in that quirky moment when you look and realize you're becoming your Mother.
What do you think? When did your a-ha moment come?
